The oldest honey in the world The oldest honey ever discovered was found in Georgia, dating back to around 3500 B.C. This remarkable discovery was made during the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in 2003, about 170 kilometers west of Tbilisi2. The honey was found in ceramic vessels within a tomb, believed to belong to a noblewoman. The honey, which includes varieties such as meadow flower, berry, and linden honey, was remarkably well-preserved due to the natural properties of honey that prevent spoilage2. This discovery predates the previously oldest known honey found in the tomb of Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun by about 2000 years. This finding not only highlights Georgia's ancient beekeeping practices but also showcases the incredible longevity of honey when stored properly. It's fascinating to think that honey made by bees buzzing around Georgia 5,500 years ago is discovered today!      Oldest honey 5500 years ago. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan ...
